The Black Death has come to The Tower of London. The blackest of deaths awaits any man who tries to escape!
It’s 1665 and The Great Plague of London is showing no signs of slowing down. King Charles II has fled to safety with most of parliament not far behind. The Tower of London is without guards. The only thing standing between a persecuted Jesuit priest and freedom is a nameless, faceless plague doctor hellbent on torturing and hanging anyone caught within spitting distance of the front gates. With the Black Death breathing down his neck, Father Alvaro Aranda is out of options…
Actually, this is quite good. It’s combining history with a decent story and some very good black and white artwork. Martin Ian Smith has produced that good story while Ricardo and Brondo provide the art –nicely balanced negatives [black and white in case you wonder what I’m talking about]. Not too much in the way of costume but it does include one of my all-time favourite plague doctor outfits!
Reads almost like a two actor play.
I must admit, though,I could do without opening brown envelopes and finding “A Rope Around Your Broken Neck” written across something inside. I thought the neighbours were kicking off again!
Not badly priced and certainly worth buying –there are other books from Attackosaur comics that you can find on their website and order.
