Hm.  I think whatever I write that title will make it look tame!  David Gordon returns with his Flash Gordon influenced interplanetary romp.  I’m just glad he never said that he was influenced by the 1970s movie “Flesh Gordon”!  Mind you,”The Empress Minge”??

Quite an amusing story though I do fear for the Doc.  Hey,you want to find out what’s going on then buy the book –no plot spoilers here!

If you think you are going to see copious amounts of sex then you are misleading yourself –unless it makes you buy the book?  No,no sex here.  There is plenty of Dave’s clean line artwork here as well as use of tones.  A pity it’s not in colour as I’ve seen some of that work and it’s brilliant.  In fact, included in this book are greyscaled colour pages, not the same sadly but nice.  There are also pages showing some of the original pencils which is nice and I like to see these.

And a nicely designed cover –quite sturdy, too in case you get over-excited!

Recommended!

Ahh,now Dave is really beginning to start churning out the books!  And I think it safe to write that you will find no similar material in the

UK.  Makes it sorta unique!

Sturdy cover, nice printing and what has to be a trademarked David Gordon cover –hey, you should see the back cover!  [oh,you’ll have to buy the book to do that].  Part 1 of “Black Sky” has an intriguing plot and if you like some action then you ought to enjoy this –you’ll also like it if you are into sudden endings that leave you asking “what the hell is going on?”

“Ethereal” starts a new run in this issue with a new beginning so don’t worry if you missed out on issue 1. Again, this will give you the blend of mystery and action you crave –you know you do!  Very odd.

Then of course there is Derna.  Derna is a character David has been throwing around since the early 1990s if I’m right?  I think she was a character in a zine I reviewed for Comics World [less said about that the better].  Hard core tough-girl action that ends with a bang.  Now I bet that got you reading more closely!

There are some nice pencilled sketches as well as some grey-scale pin-up art.  Really quite slick and adds a little extra to the book.

But,you all ask reaching for the keyboard,”How do we order the books,Terry?”  Simple. Just go to David’s My Excess website and get in touch with him.

And while you are on the site take a look at all the goodies that are there.  The cover art/colours will blow your socks off!

So,both books recommended.  What did I forget…

Oh,the url!

Now order and be good.  This laytex outfit is killing me.

  1. Ahh,Curt,I know that dirty little devil hiding behind the baby face of Mr Gordon has a few more things in the pipeline.

I just can’t believe I called David Gordon “baby face”…I think I meant “rabid faced”!!!

Much strength to his drawing arm!!
