Hi,Diwan.
I have no idea about distribution in India but I think your best bet might be Rafiq as he seems to know what's going on in India!
You could check the Classics Illustrated link on the Blog Roll but I don't think Jeff would know which shops.

Rafiq:does India have specific comic shops, stores or even conventions?? HELP!

Best of luck Diwan.

Classics Illustrated: I picked up "A Tale of Two Cities" from Daryaganj today, and my son is already hooked on to it. Rafiq has mentioned that he has seen a few on the bookshelves in India. Can you please give me a few locations.

It's actually Westland (www.westland.in), which has the distribution rights of CineBook in India. I only hope those guys do bring these Classics Illustrated over here, but I remember seeing a lot of Classics Illustrated titles from some closed up UK based publishers, filling the stands here.

And obviously, they aren't getting picked up too, and I seem them mostly on discount sales. That could be the reason why Westland is opting out of ordering CI issues for India.

But, I believe the reason for no-sale was because it was never regularized, and with a man on mission like Jeff, who is gung-ho about continuing the series in an orderly fashion, I hope that he gets the deal done with Westland.

I have sent a lot of queries and feedbacks to Westland, but the power goons at most of the publishing house, never respond to a mere comic fans emails. :) Obviously, money speaks in those circles, not fannism :)

Hi,Rafiq.
Yes,Classics Illustrated [UK] has the reprint rights to the old CI books but the printing quality is a lot better. Jeff who runs the company does have UK/US original CI books which are pricey but the new books are great quality and he has a plan to eventually reprint all the titles he can.

The problem is that Western World[?] who are supposed to distribute Cinebook are NOT responding to CIs emails so they WANT to get their books to India but cannot.

Really need to find another good distributor in India first!

Terry, Isn't Classics Illustrated mainly features the old reprints of their titles....? Or are they any new additions in this relaunch ??

There are countless publishers who have released Classics Illustrated titles under their trademark in India over the years, but no one did it so regularly. Which means, I am left with an unfinished collection :( :)
