Mark Texeira Returns to His Roots with PR Appearance!
Puerto Rico ComicCon and Pop Culture Expo hosts renowned painter.

San Juan–It’s the return of the native son, as painter and illustrator Mark Texeira makes his way to Puerto Rico May 2-3, with an appearance on an island rich in Texeira family heritage! And what a homecoming it is shaping up to be at the Puerto Rico ComicCon and Pop Culture Expo!

The first generation in his family to be born in the continental United States, this will be Texeira’s first trade show in the area, as the show hosts the artist known worldwide for his illustrative interiors and fine art painting. Think of “Ghost Rider,” “Moonknight,” “Black Panther,” “Conan,” “Vampirella,” and you think of Mark Texeira and his body of amazing work!

An alumni of the famous Art & Design High School in Manhattan, Mark also studied under the guidance of painters Max Ginsburg, Irwin Greenberg, and portrait painter David Leffel–the later at the Art Students League.

Mark has also won mentions at the Salmagundi Club and Society of Illustrators (of which he is a member) for his oil paintings, which continue to spark interest and work in the form of cover assignments for books, magazines, comics and record albums.

In fact, some of his continuing clients include:  New York Magazine; Scholastic Books; MCI Records; Def Jam Records; Marvel Entertainment; D.C. Publications; Harris Publications; Wizards Of The Coast; Wizard Magazine; Image Publications; Black Bull Entertainment; Continuity Associates; and Fleer/Skybox International.

Be looking for Mark’s  newest work in the upcoming “Wolverine Special” for Marvel Comics, debuting with the new “Wolverine Origins” movie;  fantastic painted interiors for Wizards of the Coast; and a new Punisher limited series currently on the table! In addition Mark is the subject of the much anticipated new  DVD interview and tutorial from Woodcrest Productions/Eva Ink entitled “Creator Chronicles: Mark Texeira.”

Perhaps most exciting, a full artbook retrospective of Mark’s career has just been completed and should be on the stands by midyear. Written by Renee Witterstaetter and published by  Vanguard Productions, the 128 page volume entitled: “Tex–The Art of Mark Texeira…The Artist’s Great Escape,” is available in softcover, hardcover and a slipcase deluxe edition, which boasts 16 bonus plates!

Other guests joining Tex at the PR show include Vic Mignogna, writer/editor Renee Witterstaetter, Kenneth Rocafort and Tom Beland. The Puerto Rico ComicCon takes place May 2-3 at the Puerto Rico Convention Center. For more information on the show, go to: www.thepopcultureexpo.com
