HESKE HORROR’S “BONE CHILLER” HAS 8 GREAT SCARESIndie horror anthology available as trade paperback

(

Boston, MAFebruary 18, 2009)  The writer of THE NIGHT PROJECTIONIST, the anticipated vampire series by publisher Studio 407 with film rights optioned by Myriad Pictures (Jeepers Creepers 2), stirs up suburban scares with BONE CHILLER, a trade paperback anthology culled from R.M. Heske’s COLD BLOODED CHILLERS series.

What makes these stories ring so terrifyingly close to home is that the monsters aren’t zombies, werewolves or vampires … they are US.

If you are looking for a killer in a mask, look elsewhere. These Tales of Suburban Murder and Malice are happening next door.-          ComicMonsters.com

There’s an edge of Twilight Zone with a twist of Alfred Hitchcock about Heske’s Cold Blooded Chillers. And the art is stunningly beautiful, reminiscent of the horror art of the past.-          Project FanBoy

While Heske pens all the stories, each tale is drawn by different artists who each bring a unique voice (except for Zeu who eerily illustrates False Pretenses and Dead Dog). The 140-page anthology features a forward by Rod Lott (www.bookgasm.com) and includes three “themed” sections – Femme Fatales, Distrust Thy Neighbor, and Someone is Watching (stories with a supernatural bent). Also included are two chilling extras: Alibi, a short film script with spot illustrations by Reno Maniquis of Walls of Angels fame (who also illustrates Transcendence in the book), and a micro comic called Shopper’s Nightmare drawn by Breno Tamura and lettered by David Paul.

Preston Asevedo provides a creepy Grim Reaper cover and artwork for The Waiting Room, a Jacobs Ladder-esque tale that was adapted into a short film starring Richard Schiff and Izabello Miko. Other contributing artists include Mark Chilcott, Jay Fife, Alain Norte, Dirk Shearer, and Adam Swiecki.

Although relatively new, Heske’s Cold Blooded Chillers has received strong reviews from some of the most prestigious comic and horror sites, as well as coverage on USA Today and Reuters. “These tales take me back to the independent horror comics of the early 90’s that featured interesting tales and up-and-coming artists,” says Rob Caprilozzi at ComicMonsters.com. “Robert Heske has found his niche in this sub-genre of horror that is often forgotten.”
