The Complete Ace Trucking Co. Vol 1

320 pages - paperback

ISBN: 9781905437771

Writers: John Wagner, Alan Grant

Artists: Massimo Belardinelli, Ian Gibson

Join Ace Garp and his outrageous alien crew on the spaceship Speedo Ghost as they ply their trade on the galaxy’s highways and byways. This rabble of misfits are unlike anything you’ll have encountered before. Meet huge bodyguard GBH, the skeletal Feek the Freek and sarcastic ship’s computer Ghost as they try to earn an honest living against insufferable odds.

Collected together for the very first time in graphic novel format this is a 2000 AD classic every comic fan will want to own!

THIS VOLUME INCLUDES ALL THE ACE TRUCKING STORIES FROM 2000AD PROGS 232-293

PLUS! Bonus Stories! Creator Bios! Covers Gallery!

Finally got a copy! Oh yes. Went in to Forbidden Planet [

Bristol] and asked if they were getting copies in?  “Never heard of it.  Shouldn’t think so”,I was told. Dropped a coin, bent over to pick it up and glanced to one side:there was The Complete Ace Trucking

Co. vol.1.  Replacing the heavily dented and bloodstained copy I used to beat the assistant with,I took my copy to the counter.  On the back of the book was a £2 off sticker but I never noticed til I got home –I paid the full price.

WHO CARES –HUNDREDS OF BELARDINELLI PAGES!!!

Deep breaths.

The reproduction quality is great, despite the fact that the pages are reduced from the 2000 AD magazine size to Essential collection size.  If only Massimo had lived to see some recognition in this collection of his pure genius. The covers gallery is,of course, black and white but that does not lose anything.

If you never saw the work of the Master then you need to get this book. Oh,I’d love to see Meltdown Man or even the original 2000 AD Dan Dare & The Biogs and the following stories drawn by Belardinelli.  Every-so-often,Uncle Tel whips out those ancient, near brittle 1970s issues and trips out like a puma on catnip.

Put this book on your Christmas list or get it for someones Christmas present. Classic.

Damn, there goes your planned Christmas present, Uncle Tel !

Hear Hear on Dan Dare 2000AD reprints.Still remember that terrific blue-ink Biogs centerpage in Prog 7 or 8 I think.Up there with McMahons Hammerstein / Mongrol centerspread, or some of Ezquerra’s Strontium Dog Journey Into Hell ones.Ahh, when 2000AD was worth reading ! And when I was a lot younger !!!!

A harlem Heroes/Inferno reprint wouldn’t go amiss either.Bellardinelli’s artwork on inferno was really terrific.A hugely underrated artist at 2000AD, wonderfully unique, hugely inventive !
