“Where Is Eric Bradbury?”
I keep getting emails about old time British comic creators and recently I mentioned on the Britcomics Group that the Titan book,ALBION:Origins, had not mentioned that Eric Bradbury had died. Doubt was cast and a serch of Lambiek produced this:
“Eric Bradbury studied at the art school of Beckenham from 1936. During World War II, he was an air pilot. He began his comics career drawing ‘Our Ernie’ and other funny character for Knockout in 1949. After a while, he turned to making adventure strips. Among his early credits are the ‘Luck Logan’ western and ‘Buffalo Bill’ in Comet. He also created ‘The King’s Thief’, based on the movie of the same name. From 1960s, Bradbury began to further develop his own dark style, doing strips like ‘Mytek the Mighty’ and ‘The House of Dolmann’ for Valiant, ‘Maxwell Hawke’ for Buster and ‘Doomlord’ for the 1980’s Eagle.”
So,to make sure that everyone was clear on the point I dredged through my volumes of correspondence and found what I needed.
Quoting from a letter to Gil Page dated 31st May,2001:
“Sadly,Eric Bradbury’s daughter,June, phoned to tell me that he died the week of 14th May…”
I mentioned it in the printed version of CBO and even sent messages to people in the comic field -obviously all in vain!

Hi Terry, I’m afraid that Buffalo Bill page isn’t by Eric Bradbury.

Well,I thought it wasn’t BUT it was sold as Eric Bradbury. In fact, this page shouldn’t be here. Its what happenes when you are uploading lots of things and click the wrong one.But with all the stuff I’m doing at the moment lucky I never put a Judge Dredd page up!
