Showcasing new Sketchbook at Big Apple Show

New York, NY-- The Big Apple Con just got bigger! Comics creator Michael Golden will be making his first New York City appearance of 2008 at Big Apple’s The National convention November 14-16! And, he’ll be offering his new sketchbook “Michael Golden’s: Heroes and Villains” for the first time in the city as well.

After a jam-packed two years of gallery exhibitions in Barcelona, Gijon, New York, Paris, The Netherlands and Belgium, along with “Special Guest” nods from numerous shows throughout this past year, including Barcelona and Birmingham, Michael is heading back home with The National!

Although his private commission list is temporarily full, the renowned comics creator will be taking a weekend off from his current projects–both comic and film– to sign and do some limited sketching at The National, as well as offer fans his new hardcover sketchbook, “Michael Golden’s Heroes and Villains.” The new book is 48 pages, full color, and will be available in Artist’s Alley at Michael’s table near Vanguard Productions, while supplies last. Volumes are available as both signed and sketch editions.

“Heroes and Villains” is the newest publication in a line of numerous new books and DVD’s on the artist, including: “Excess: The Art of Michael Golden,” from Vanguard Productions–which sold out and has gone into a second printing with a new Vampirella cover, as well as the recently released “Creator Chronicles: Michael Golden,” documentary, which is a comprehensive look at the artist and his influences as seen never before in any format.

“The great thing about all of Michael’s art books is that there is hardly any duplication of art,” says his agent, Renee Witterstaetter. ” Maybe one or two pieces total. So, the Golden collector can be assured that each volume will only compliment the other and make a complete set.”

Michael will be on hand all days of The National, November 14-16th at the Penn Plaza Pavilion in Manhattan, along with other comics creators: Mark Texeira, Basil Gogos, Billy Tucci, Buzz, Carmine Infantino, Chris Claremont, David Lloyd, Dennis Colero, Dick Ayers, Herb Trimpe, Irwin Hasen, Jim Salicrup, Jim Shooter, Jim Steranko, John Romita Sr., Larry Hama, Peter David, Rodney Ramos, Roy Thomas, Russ Heath, Walt Simonson and Tommy Castillo  among many others.
