When this turned up I have to admit that I was a little stunned!  Full colour. And wonderfully printed full colour at that -which I’ll refer to again in a while. But the contributors -Doug Moench! Gilbert Shelton and Bryan Talbot!  Wow.

“The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers” star in “The Unbearable Lightness Of Being Fat Freddy”. Now in Underground Comix you tend to find either garish colour work or patchy due to financial restrictions. This FFFB strip is quite funny -as you’d expect! And the colour used is just perfect.

John McShane writes an interesting article on “40 Fabulous Furry Years Of The Freak Brothers”  which includes info on the unreleased FFFB film “Grassroots”.

Bryan Talbot draws two strips;”Habban I Sabbah” and the Doug Moench scripted “The Cannabis Conspiracy” -hey,this is educational!

Now,Jim Stewart obviously supplies several strips and one he drew, written by Alan Grant, was bound to appeal to my quirky sense of humour and my love of Silver Age Marvel comics. “The Valley Of Gwanja” stars the Astounding Ganjaman. It’s the first part but what a first part!  Our hero finds a valley full of a certain collie herb and sets about enjoying himself until the arrival of The Silver Spliffer! And the Spliffer is here as herald of Galactahash:The Dope Devourer!  Can’t wait for part 2!

John A. Short -a name from the Small Press past!- writes “Free Spirits:Candy”,”Porno Jones” -both wonderfully drawn by Gabrielle Noble.  There is also “Ganjaman And M-Girl Versus Dracula” drawn by Jim Stewart.  All rather fun!

Also in this issue is “Dixon Of Dope Green” by Dave Alexander;”The Fifth Organ” by Pudsy Morris and much, much more that you should enjoy unless yer a real straight shirt.

Highly recommended and this is a top quality publication -so buy a copy if you are over 18!

Can’t escape the feeling that there may be drug references in the comic, though.
