In the south of France, leave the motorway and keep going over the fields. You’ll end up seeing the Paillar bell-tower. In this village where rugby is king, even the roundabouts are oval! The Paillar team is only afraid of one thing – that some Englishmen with bad intentions will turn the local pub into a tea salon! Also when the All Blacks look for a sparring partner to prepare for the world cup, our players, Light bulb, Fat neck, the Anaesthetist, Trumpeter and Romeo can’t resist the call of the southern hemisphere.
Cauliflower ears, broken noses and black eyes aplenty!
If you are into rugby then you’ll enjoy this series which has a few in-jokes but tends to be a riotous all-out fun-fest! Ever been battered and bruised after a rugby match? Ah,the memories. The pain –still!

A young peasant in ancient Egypt, Papyrus is a mischievous boy, crafty and courageous. Protected by a magic sword, he saves the princess Theti-Cheri, whose protector and confidant he becomes. He will be extremely busy protecting his friend from the plots woven by the priests of Amon or by cheating princes trying to make her disappear… On the way to Abou-Simbel, Theti-Cheri and Papyrus will have to face two bands of plunderers who want to seize a treasure that is guarded by the four colossi of the temple of
It’s odd that so many European creators use an almost –almost – cartoony style for their characters while the detail in buildings, ships, temples and scenes are drawn in a far more technical manner. Nothing wrong with that –it works really well in Papyrus. This is a corker of a book and should really entertain young and old alike.
Highly recommended!!
Papyrus 2 - Imhotep’s Transformation

Papyrus and his friend Imhotep head off for Sakkarah, where a statue must be erected to give praise to the Pharaoh. While navigating the Nile, they save an old man threatened by a crocodile. In Sakkarah, the Pharaoh’s life is threatened too: He has been poisoned. If he dies, the future will be very bleak… So our young heroes have the idea of letting the old man they saved play the role of Pharaoh, seeing as the two men look very much alike… But the deception may not last for long, and Papyrus has to find an antidote for the Pharaoh as quickly as he can!
Everything I said about the last volume applies here. There is the blend of ancient Egypt –it’s life and surroundings as well as a magical element. Another treat for the Euro comic fans and I’m sure for UK fans developing a taste for Cinebook albums!
