With the results finally collated, counted and ratified in each of the 30 categories, voting is now open for the 2007 Eagle Awards. The winners are to be announced at the Bristol International Comic Expo on Saturday, May 10, 2008. The awards ceremony, the highlight of Britain’s premiere comics’ event, will be held at Bristol’s Ramada Plaza Hotel where the ceremony is to be hosted by British TV and sitcom personality Fraser Ayres, best known as a regular in The Smoking Room and Thieves like Us. Assisting him will be Eagle Awards regular Cassandra Conroy, daughter of awards founder, Mike Conroy.

The presentation is to be preceded by the traditional gala dinner. With demand for tickets always high, early booking is highly recommended. Reservations can be made through Martin ‘Biff’ Averre, who can also provide further details. PRESS RELEASE - IMAGE COMICS TAKES MANHATTAN!

Image Comics makes its first full debut at this years’ New York Comic Con!

15 April 2008 (Berkeley, CA) - This upcoming weekend, Image Comics makes its first full debut at New York Comic Con, celebrating with an announcement packed panel and guests galore!

“For whatever reason New York has been a tough city to hold a convention, but the folks behind the New York Comic Con have pulled it off better than anyone could imagine,” said Image Comics Publisher Erik Larsen. “I’ve really enjoyed every year I’ve attended and thought it was long past time Image Comics had a complete set up, including one of our now famous Image Comics Shows!”

In addition to signings with creators such as AMORY WARS/Coheed Cambria’s Claudio Sanchez, SPECIAL FORCES’ Kyler Baker, DYNAMO 5’s Jay Faerber,  BILLY DOGMA’s Dean Haspiel, SUBURBAN GLAMOUR’s Jamie McKelvie, Shadowline President Jim Valentino and Image Comics Publisher & SAVAGE DRAGON creator Erik Larsen fans will also be able to purchase a selection of Image’s library, which includes what may be the very last opportunity to ever buy an original, first printing WALKING DEAD VOL. 1 DELUXE HC.

Furthermore, this years’ Image Comics Show (Saturday at 2-3 PM,  ROOM: 1E16) features three generations of Image creators discussing the rise of creator owned comics and what it means for the future of the industry. Panelists include Image founders, Erik Larsen & Jim Valentino, DYNAMO 5’s Jay Faerber and newer names such as AMORY WARS’ Claudio Sanchez & HAZED’s Mark Sable. It wouldn’t be an Image Comics Show without a number of announcements, including the biggest change on SPAWN since Todd McFarlane left the title.

The New York Comic Con will take place Friday, March 18th to Sunday March 20th. Image Comics can be found at booth 1407.

Image Comics is a comics and graphic novels publisher formed in 1992 by a collective of best-selling artists. Since that time, Image has gone on to become one of the largest comics publishers in the United States. There are currently four partners in Image Comics (Erik Larsen, Todd McFarlane, Marc Silvestri and Jim Valentino), and Image is currently divided into four major houses (Todd McFarlane Productions, Top Cow Productions, Shadowline and Image Central). Image comics and graphic novels cover nearly every genre, sub-genre and style imaginable, offering science fiction, romance, horror, crime fiction, historical fiction, humor and more by the finest artists and writers working in the medium today.

MOONFACE PRESS TO LAUNCH

SEPTIC ISLE AT

BRISTOL EXPO

“Bleak and brutal” spy thriller to appear as exclusive limited edition

[April 15, 2008]

UK independent comic publisher Moonface Press will launch its highly-anticipated new graphic novella, SEPTIC ISLE, at the Bristol International Comic Expo (May 9-11).

The book: The 52-page perfect-bound title has a full-colour cover and black and white interior artwork. An exclusive limited edition first printing of just 100 copies will be available at the Bristol Expo, priced £3.95.

The book is written by Andy Winter (Hero Killers, Blood Psi), drawn by Mick Trimble (MC2, The Many Worlds Of Jonas Moore) and boasts a wraparound cover by Declan Shalvey (Hero Killers, Freak Show). Andy and Declan were the creative team on Hero Killers which won last year’s Eagle Award for Best Black and White Comicbook – British. Declan is nominated for an Eagle again this year as Favourite Newcomer Artist.

Andy, Declan and Mick will all be on hand at the Moonface Press table at the Expo to chat about the book and sign copies.

The story: In the ’70s and ’80s, Jacob Marley was MI5’s most revered and feared agent. But he turned his back on Queen and country to pursue a more peaceful existence. Now, 15 years later and with his life collapsing around him, Marley has returned to find that the world of British espionage is more dangerous than ever before.

Ageing, heartbroken and off his game, Marley must now face off against Jerome Quinn. A former MI5 man himself, Quinn leads Odin’s Sword, a neo-Nazi terror organisation that has declared war on

Britain’s Muslim community. He’s every bit as ruthless as Marley, only younger, stronger and smarter.

To beat him, Marley will need every shred of courage and cunning at his disposal – and it still might not be enough…

TEXEIRA At NYCC

Mark Texeira Opens Commission List for NYCC and Beyond !

Michael Golden Sketch List Capped

New York– With the NYCC just a few days away, it’s just been announced that artist Mark Texeira will be taking advance orders for a limited number of convention commissions!! “Considering how crazy the NYCC can be, we wanted to give people the opportunity to sign up for their sketches in advance and beat the crowd,” said  Tex’s agent Renee Witterstaetter. “I will only be taking a limited number of NYCC sketch commissions in advance.”

cover_superman_thumb1.jpg

Known for his stunning interiors on “Ghost Rider” and “MoonKnight,” Texeira has always been a fan fave at shows and on the book stands, and his convention commissions are thus wildly popular.

Tex will also be taking on a very limited number of painting commissions as well. Remember those Vampirella oil pieces! Wow.

Anyone interested in either an NYCC sketch or a bigger painting commission, should contact Renee at:

evaink@aol.com

In addition, Eva Ink has relayed that artist Michael Golden’s sketch list is now officially closed, and that he won’t be accepting anymore “in-studio” commissions–thus being only available for a limited number of pieces while at shows. “Having reached the capacity that he wanted, Michael is capping the list for at least six months,” commented Witterstaetter. Everyone on the sketchlist currently, or who has negotiated a piece already is locked in, however, now, the only way to get a sketch is to see Golden at a show until the list reopens.

“Michael’s commissions are architecturally beautiful,” said Witterstaetter. ” And it’s always interesting that many of the people in Michael’s current order list, are other artists in the business!  It’s been very rewarding being able to provide a way for appreciators of Michael’s work to obtain pieces from Golden for this limited time, ” she added. “Depending on when current orders are fulfilled, he may reopen the commission list later this year.”

And, don’t forget, if you just want to see more from these guys,  Michael is currently doing the frontage for Digital Webbing’s new mini-series “Demon’s Regret,”  and “Excess: The Art of Michael Golden”– although sold out–is going into a second printing via Vanguard Productions.  They will also be releasing “

 vamp-tex.jpg

Tex: The Art of Mark Texeria–The Artist’s Great Escape,” later this year.

And what about the NYCC? Well sure! You can find Mark “Tex” Texeira and the Eva Ink Staff in the artist’s alley area in Section B, Tables13/14, where you will find an abundance of books, prints, and original art by both Tex and Golden. Come on by!
