2008 looks to be Michael Golden’s year! If you are a CBO regular you’ll have noticed the occasional item about convention appearances of this comic book great.  Well,there’s more!  Yes –MORE!!

Rare Original Art available at NYCC!! 

New York–Even though Michael Golden will be half way around the world at the Barcelona Comic Con, you’ll be able to find a little bit of him at the New York Comic Con, thanks to the efforts of  New York’s renowned Illustration House. “Astounding Art,” will be on display the art house April 12-26th, and Ilustration House is pleased to present this tribute of comic book illustrators featuring the work of Dave Stevens, Michael Golden, Alex Ross, Alex Horley, P.Craig Russell, Wally Wood, Basil Wolverton, Jim Starlin, Neal Adams, Frank Frazetta, Ken Stacy, Richard Corben, Jack Davis, Enrich, Boris Vallejo, John Severin, Mark Nelson, Dave Gibbons and others!

The show also coincides, of course, with the NYCC from April 18-20 at the Javits Center. And, Illustration House will have a booth at the show as well to tell you more about the sale/exhibition and the pieces offered for acquisition.

  

Golden’s contribution for the offering, spans much of his career and includes rare pieces such as:  Four exclusive pages from Golden’s own collection from “The ‘Nam” #1; a rare Superman pin-up published in the “Superman Annual”; A Mutant piece;  and a two part “Avengers” cover. A rare opportunity for collectors!!

Michael Golden Honoured At Barcelona Comic Con!

 

Major Exhibition of Original Art!! 

Spain–Some call him “influential,” some a “legend,” and some just call him Golden…but whatever the noun, adjective or moniker, one thing is for sure: Michael Golden has produced a body of work that is varied, unique, and always, always trendsetting.

In celebration of the comic creator who strives to puts the mark a little higher with each new creation, the Barcelona Comic Con is honoring Michael as a spotlighted comic guest at their 2008 show, April 18-20, and is mounting a major exhibition of original Michael Golden artwork never before put on display.  

Some of the pieces in the exhibition include: Pages from “The ‘Nam” tradepaperback; Sabertooth Special; Wildstorm Archive; Doctor Strange/Ghost Rider Special; Generation X; Mutant X; Zorro;  Body Bags; Spartan X; Punisher Armory; Punisher; Spawn; G.I. Joe; Hulk vs. Fantastic Four; Jurassic Park; Mircronauts; Crystar….and numerous others–most from Golden’s own private collection!

Needless to say Michael’s limited return to the convention circuit, has brought a great deal of interest in his artistic legacy, noted by numerous new books and DVD’s on the artist, including:“Excess: The Art of Michael Golden,” from Vanguard Productions, which has sold out and is going into a second printing with a new Vampirella cover; “Modern Masters Vol.12–Michael Golden” tradepaperback from TwoMorrows Publishing; “Modern Masters in the Studio with Michael Golden DVD”;  the upcoming two disc set “Creator Chronicles: Michael Golden” from Woodcrest Productions and Eva Ink; as well as the upcoming sketchbook “Michael Golden Heroes & Villains” from BrandStudios and Eva Ink.  You can also see new Michael Golden covers on “Exiles,” “Demon’s Regret,” “Wolverine,” and more!

It’s no wonder that the Barcelona Comic Con is taping Golden for an appearance at this years show as well. Michael will be on hand all days of the BCC along with other comics and media luminaries: Adam Hughes, Denis Kitchen, Milo Manara, Moebius, Peter Bagge, Ray Harryhausen, Terry Moore, Tim Sale,  and Tony Harris, among others.
