ELEVENTH HOUR no.2
36pp B&W £4.50 [incl. p&h]
Hmm. Finally got my copy of no.2 but on checking the web site for cover price found it has sold out! No info on whether there will be a reprint or not.
But I’ve waited so I’ll review!
Nice cover. “Eye Of The Storm” is written by Peter Rogers and drawn by Azim Akherali. It is probably the best drawn contribution to this issue -grey toning making it look almost like grey toned painted work. Not sure about the story,I’ll have to read it again as I’m sure I missed something. Four me out in the wilds and..no. That would spoil things.
“Danick And The Dragon” is written, inked and lettered by Ian Sharman and pencilled by Simon Wyatt. Okay but didn’t tickle my fancy.
Peter Rogers wrote,Nuno Nebre pencils and Ian Sharman inks and letters “Abattoir”. Bit unsure about the artwork but this is an interesting “twist- in -the -tale” ending.
The Special Preview of “Project Raven”,written by Cheri Donovan and pencilled by Scott Larson and inked by Ian Sharman,is crisp clean art.
I was, however, left personally feeling that at £3.50 a copy and £1.50 for postage and handling, this didn’t seem very satisfying. Cover prices, however, are affected by printing costs.
You either have a top line-up of strips for an anthology or you can fail. These four strips varied from good to so-so and I wish I’d been able to see no.1 to make a fair judgement.
If you get a chance to buy a copy [if you see one] or find a copy of no.1 available buy it and see what you think and please remember that this is a young publisher so as they continue in the industry they will obviously improve.
I’m not being harsh because the packaging and printing is excellent and at least Orang Utan Comics is publishing something!
Hopefully,as more titles are published and CBO gets Press Releases and review copies,we can see the team evolve.
In the meantime check out the company site at:
