AROC OF ZENITH! January 30, 2008

Jay Disbrow is without doubt one of the slickest artists of the later US Golden Age. And,like a number of the Old Timers, never gave up drawing comics. Quite by accident about six years ago,I was browsing through back issue boxes in Area 51 and there wasn’t a lot there to interest me but then…

CAPTAIN ELECTRON!

The cover was very cool -modern but retro. And the eccentric story/characters I loved. There on the cover was the signature…Jay Disbrow! I knew I HAD to have the comic so paid the price of 50p [that’s about $1!]. Wonderful comic.

In case you are wondering,Disbrow wrote and drew Captain Electron in 1986 for the Brick Computer Science Institute.

Aroc Of Zenith is a sort of Flash Gordon style strip that has been on the web for a while now -and it’s complete at part no.314!

The colour work is gorgeous and I do love Disbrow’s work -now here is an artist that Jonathan Ross ought to do a programme on [Ross was involved in the wonderful “Desperately Seeking Steve Ditko” documentary].

To see the strip and find out more about Disbrow follow the link below -and have fun!
