Happy Christmas !!

Free-to-download GCSE ResourcesTo help with students and teachers in the 2008 English test we have created free-to-download resources for Much Ado About Nothing, Richard III and The Tempest.

All using our three-tier language system, the resources cover the set sections of these three set plays. On the advice of teachers we’ve also created a “No-Text” version which has empty word balloons for students to fill in.

On top of that, we’ve developed teachers’ resources to cover the set sections. And if that wasn’t enough, we’ve made them free to download!

Thousands of people have taken advantage of these superb resources already. If you want to join them, click on the link above (or on the logos on the right), and please pass on the link to anyone who is studying one of the three set plays for their GCSEs in 2008, or to anyone that you know is teaching them. I’d love to hear that the pass rate has increased in 2008, and for us to be cited as a contributing factor!

 Review of 2007

With our first year drawing (pardon the pun!) to a close, it seems the right time to reflect on 2007 and look forward to a very busy 2008.  Henry VAs promised, our first title was published on 5th November 2007, and has been very well received. It’s been a joy to see the books for sale in various shops both on the high street, and online - but the best joy of all for me came at the Birmingham International Comics Show where two young lads bought a copy each. Completely by coincidence, my daughter’s school is studying Henry V for A-levels and they are using our books to help teach the play. Students who couldn’t understand what was going on from the script are now finding it easy to follow with our three-tier language system. I’m very proud to see the fruits of our labour being used as it was intended and to see it positively affecting peoples’ lives.

MacbethWe’re counting down the pages now…We’ve planned the completion of the artwork so that we can get it to the printers at the beginning of February. The masterpiece will be unveiled at the Education Show at the NEC on February 28th, and it will be available for purchase online for delivery around then too. Of course, we’ll be showing it off at the Bristol Comics Show in May. It’s looking superb!

Other TitlesIt’s hard to keep up with all of the titles we have in production at the moment. You can see them here:

http://www.classicalcomics.com/titles.html.

Keep an eye on that page, as well as our News page, because we have some very exciting titles that will start in 2008, as well as a gruelling schedule of publications to release in the summer.

Although I don’t like to highlight one book above another (anyone with more than one child will understand how a parent should never favour one child above another!), as it is Christmas, I’ll end with an appropriate image!

May I take this opportunity to thank you all for your support throughout 2007, and to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and the happiest of New Years, from all of us here at Classical Comics.
