BCBA -up-date

Posted by admin On November - 26 - 2007

I have to admit that the US and US comic book fans/historians  are very lucky.  Bill Nolan and Richard Boucher have brought Golden Age US comics to those interested via their sites and even DVDs.  Some of those interested could hardly afford some rip-off prices and so would never have known the joy of The Green Turtle,Target And The Targeteers and many other characters.

There is an archive for US comics of that Era.

However,a British version seems a loooong way off.

The problem is that it it quite obvious that collectors DO NOT want to share.

When I appealed for a scan of a certain publication there was no response.  However several members on one of my groups have that specific publication!

It is interesting that certain members on these groups, now noted “British comic historians”,have been downloading scans from my files [I have an IP address checker to curtail hacking] but have not shared a single scanned comic they boast having.

For this reason I have decided to close the folder in question and wait until enough scanned material is available to open the files publicly.

One even more disconcerting thing is that certain people on the net have started hinting that what I am doing is illegal.  One suggested I am selling scans on disc -I am NOT.

This BCBA was intended as a public, educational archive…something it seems people in the UK do not want.

What a country.  What an ‘industry’!

Contributions of scans still welcome from genuinely interested comic collectors.
