Running CBO is not always a joy.
Sadly,Wordpress appears to allow large images but not allow text to spread out naturally. This results in a certain problem that can take a very very long time to post a brief item.
Add a picture to an item and text can get jumbled about –words appearing out of sentence on new lines. You re-type/correct and it can take ages to get the paragraph back in order.
Someone wants an image changed you have to go from line 1 to final line correcting…even then it can come out wrong!
All this hassle can get a “thank you” but as a rule there are mostly no “thank yous”.
But it can be fun and when projects turn up from Cinebook or Classical Comics it’s a joy –and the publishers appreciate the coverage. Udon and Dr Master do provide review material and these are still modest companies. However, when it comes to the larger companies there is no real reason why promises of review copies are not kept.
Wizkids thought insulting would keep them on site and that being heavy hitters would guarantee non-removal. Oh dear. And,since CBO stopped pushing HeroClix, etc.,I’m told interest in stores has dropped. Interestingly,Wizkids are STILL sending press releases to get back on site.
It seems CBO is working. I’m told interest in Archie comics has increased and CBO is getting the credit…hmm
Being promoted and featured on CBO is a privilege and not a right –it works two-ways. Would it work if a book distributor or publisher walked into a book store and said:”God,this is a crappy little shop but you can sell my books” Boot up….bum!
I am currently putting together a new CBO site, more details to come, which I hope will solve the Wordpress technical problem.
But companies need to remember that this is a two-way deal. If they cannot be bothered why should I?
So,prepare for some changes before Christmas.
