Comics Interviews, Reviews and News

JIANYI & WANGPENG

Posted by admin On November - 11 - 2007

Why is it that seemingly every country can maintain a comics industry but not the UK where we have toy advertisements with comics accidentally attached?

And even more annoyingly, why is it the French who manage to spot and sign up Chinese talent?

Yishan Li recently sent me two pieces of art by her friends Jianyi and Wangpeng.  Sadly, neither speaks English so an interview is out of the question and their work is translated into French by Delcourt.

The scans Li sent me are too big for this site so you won’t see the full splendour but just look at this page from Jianyi:

And if that didn’t make you drool look at this piece by Wangpeng.

That is a superb white Tiger.  This is a true artist and I think you all deserve to see a larger image of that Tiger because if you can be half as good you should be employed!aaaaaaaaaa.jpg

Hopefully, once the duo take off in

France it might be possible for Delcourt to arrange an interview but if you see Jianyi or Wangpeng’s books buy them!  Even if you don’t speak French they’ll be a treat!
