Nee How Mah!  Well, let’s say it phoenetically because I can’t get Chinese script on here!

As it is one of the most visited features on CBO,I have added a few more images and a little more text to the Manga,Manhua & Manhwa feature.

If you publish Manga or Manhua or indeed Manhwa, don’t forget we will review books and publish news releases on CBO.

Let me know what you think and what more you’d like to see on site -I’ve been asked about Hong Kong or Manga/Manhua based action figure news but as we’re not getting any of this info or figures for review I’ll look into it.

Keep popping by!

Someone said:”You have a lot of Manga,Archie and HeroClix on CBO -can’t you cut back?”

Answer:No.

The actual items that get the hits on this site can be listed [but not in order]:

*HeroClix

*Manga/Manhua/Manhwa

*Indian comics/Raj

*Archie

Now,why in the name of all kick-buckets would I get rid of them?

Shops have reported that new and former customers are citing CBO when buying or ordering HeroClix or HaloClix. People trust CBO.  Great [can I have the money now?]

The loss to Mangalife of interviews, etc.,after they tried conning me is CBOs gain.

And CBO is now the home to UK Manga…even if Tokyopop won’t acknowledge us!!

So keep stopping by for more and more and a Halloween feature on…

Classical Comics at BICS

Posted by Terry On October - 2 - 2007 1 COMMENT

logo200.gif

Karen Wenborn from Classical Comics [see Feature elsewhere on site on the company’s adaption of classic novels into graphic novels] has been in touch to tell us about their up-coming appearance at BICS:

“We are having a stand at BICS (the Henry V books will be hot off the press) and Jon Haward is on the stand with us, promoting the next book, Macbeth.

We’ll have posters and samples of Henry (all three text versions) plus, of course, books for sale. We’ll also be hoping to meet more artists, particularly colourists, whilst we are there.”

So  if you are a creator take those A4 samples along to show CC!  And PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE buy a copy [any version or ALL the versions] of the book and help support a worthy, quality British publisher!

Not only that, but you get a chance to meet the incredible Jon Haward…and ask why he never replies to me anymore!!

Hunt Emerson

Posted by Terry On October - 2 - 2007 ADD COMMENTS

I think I first met Hunt Emerson in the late 1970s when he had spikey hair and thick eye-liner on!  There’s a photo somewhere of him at Comics 101 in the 1970s…have to find it.

In the 1980s I met him again at the Knockabout Comics table at one of the UK Comic Art Conventions -cloth cap on and pint of beer in hand.  He is a genuinely nice man.

Sadly,I don’t think his site has been up-dated since…2001? Which is a pity because he is one of the most under-rated artists in the UK.  Mention him to most staff or comic geeks and you get a blank look -yet Europeans have heard of him!

I think I feel a feature coming on…

But in the meantime, look for Mr Emerson at the BICS in October and check out this old interview:

Bristol Comic Meet Up?

Posted by Terry On October - 2 - 2007 ADD COMMENTS

ph-t-cov.jpg

I was just mulling over the fact that there is now no big event in Bristol now until May,2008 and wondered whether any artists, writers or comic lovers might like to meet up for a chat and coffee in November?

I know people tend to be rather worried that they might be meeting a psychopath [I’ll ignore all comments I know are now being made by Messers. Brown and Northall  –the Liberace and Quentin Crisp of comics!].

The Bristol Central Library is a good place to sit and chat [and possibly show off art] and it’s easy to find and serves a rather hydrochloric type of coffee.   Anyone interested let me know!

EEK! Don’t Come To Bristol In November?

Posted by Terry On October - 2 - 2007 1 COMMENT

bime2007.jpg

“Why?” you ask “Is that when Bristolians seize non-natives and sacrifice them to Magog??”   No…well, not unless you’re in Knowle West.

A LOT of confusion over the November Manga Festival.  There isn’t one.  Many people, like myself, read it to mean that after this November future festivals would combine with the May Comic Expo to make a huge international event.

Well, yes and NO.  Mike Allwood, the organiser, got in touch to make it clear that the November Festival is  CANCELLED!

I do know a few people had organised trips to Bristol expecting the festival but I hope they can cancel in time.

So,there is NO Manga festival this November in Bristol.  Disappointing but there you go.  2008 should be a really big event so I hope to meet some of you next May [aww!].
