GUMBY COMIC WINS EISNER!

Posted by admin On September - 28 - 2007

You’ve read the interviews with the creative team behind the Gumby Comic on CBO [you have, haven’t you?!] and now some great follow-up news from the Brum Scribe himself [imagine a drum roll here if you like]—Mr Paul H.Birch!

Wildcard Ink, the American publishing company of Gumby Comics was nominated for three prestigious Eisner Awards this year. Furthermore, despite strong and credible opposition, they won 2007’s Best Title for a Younger Audience. The awards ceremony took place at the San Diego Comic Convention in the

USA on the evening of the 28th July. “We were the first category out the gate for the evening so you can imagine the roar upon the announcement” commented Wildcard Comics Publisher Mel Smith. “It was cool, man!” he laughed. The award is a testament to the great work writer Bob Burden (who won a second trophy for his Flaming Carrot book), artist Rick Geary and colorist Steve Oliff put into each issue of Gumby Comics.

The first Gumby story arc is being collected into a trade paperback. Among several bonus features will be an exclusive sketchbook section.

As Wildcard Ink gears up for its next year of publishing, readers can look forward to even more fun adventure with the ongoing Gumby Comics series and more specials, including a one-shot being developed by none other than Pee-Wee Herman and Mike Golden! For more information on Gumby Comics visit:
