Featurette -”Cinderella Steve”
Roland Davies [23/7/1904 - 10/12/1993]
Roland Davies most famous creation without a doubt was the old horse “Steve” -star of comic strip and animated feature. I’ve recently been sent a link to You Tube where the last of the Steve shorts can be seen.
Quality may not be great but it gives you a feel of what the features were like. I’ve mentioned them over at the British Comics Archives group and there are links there to Davies and Grahame Ns site on the films which has this to say about our little offering:
“Cinderella Steve” GB 1937
(”Come On Steve No.6″) Last in the series - Steve is left behind when the Farm Show takes place. As in the fairy story, a dear old fairy grandmother comes to succour the unfortunate. Of course, Steve loses his slipper just like Cinderella, but oh, what fun he has when he collects first prize in the show.
As soon as I have details how you can get the collected films on DVD I’ll post here.
