Fantastic Four:The Rise Of The Silver Surfer

I think we are all familiar with movie-related toy merchandising?  Well, the figures from the original Fantastic Four movie looked really cool and were nicely detailed.

So,I wondered how the next batch might compete?

My sleepless nights are over!

The Marvel site has the details.

Silver Surfer
Hailing from an unknown star system, the enigmatic entity known as the Silver Surfer has come to our planet on a mysterious intergalactic mission. Armed with the awesome power to manipulate any type of energy at will and the ability to ride a soaring cosmic force, the Surfer will be more than a challenge for the combined abilities of the Fantastic Four. It will take more than just teamwork for the Fantastic Four to overcome this otherworldly visitor and his hidden agenda.
This Silver Surfer figure is based on the character from the movie and comes with a cosmic surfboard!

[Ed]:Well, the Silver Surfer without a surf board would be a bit pointless!  Nice figure.

Fire Blast Human Torch
Johnny Storm lives his life on the edge (specializing in fast cars, pretty girls and extreme sports). But Sue’s younger brother has another, more serious side. He’s the best pilot and astronaut in the world. While piloting Reed’s experimental space station, a cosmic wave pounded Johnny’s body, turning him into a human fireball and changing his life forever. Now, when the Human Torch isn’t using his fiery power to aid the Fantastic Four, this “hothead” can often be found pulling a prank or two on unsuspecting teammate, Ben Grimm.
This Human Torch figure is based on the movie character and features two flame-blast projectiles and snap-on flames!

[Ed]:Ahhh, the old firing projectiles!  But,surely, you’ll only know they work if you open the package and thus ruin your collectible?  Hah!

Must admit that the next Human Torch figure is quite,uh,”cool”!

Blast Off Human Torch
Johnny Storm lives his life on the edge (specializing in fast cars, pretty girls and extreme sports). But Sue’s younger brother has another, more serious side. He’s the best pilot and astronaut in the world. While piloting Reed’s experimental space station, a cosmic wave pounded Johnny’s body, turning him into a human fireball and changing his life forever. Now, when the Human Torch isn’t using his fiery power to aid the Fantastic Four, this “hothead” can often be found pulling a prank or two on unsuspecting teammate, Ben Grimm.
This Human Torch figure is based on the movie character and features a blast-off base!

[Ed] Not too sure what they mean by “blast off” but I’m assuming they mean you can fire him off his stand?

I’ve often wondered, other than making Mr Fantastic a “Stretch Armstrong” type, how could they make an action figure do what the character does?  Check this out!

Battle Stretch Mr. Fantastic
Genius Reed Richards fulfilled his lifelong dream of an experimental space mission. But one tiny miscalculation gave way to tragedy when a brutal radiation storm bombarded the station and its wayward crew with a DNA-altering cosmic wave! The accident left Reed with the ability to bend, stretch, and expand his body in any imaginable way. Now as the super-flexible Mr. Fantastic, Read leads the Fantastic Four in pursuit of a new dream – one that ensures a better quality of life for every human on earth.
This Mr. Fantastic figure is based on the movie character and features interchangeable attack arms!

[Ed]:You read it right:”interchangeable attack arms”!!  Waay cool…too hip?

But what of Sue Storm-Richards,The Invisible Woman?  Sadly,no,the figure does not look like Jessica Alba.  Then again,it would be very disturbing if you got excited over a toy figure because it did look like Jessica Alba!

Force Field Invisible Woman
Brilliant and beautiful scientist Sue Storm is reunited with her former boyfriend Reed Richards when Von Doom’s company agrees to fund an exploratory space mission. Sue signs on as a member of the crew – a decision that will forever change her life. After being exposed to the cosmic wave, Sue finds she has the uncanny ability to make herself disappear. As the Invisible Woman, she is also able to generate invisible force fields and use them to fire invisible power blasts from her hands.
Based on the character from the movie, this Invisible Woman figure features a removable invisible force field and comes with a posable flight base!

[Ed] Neat, huh?  Hmm. But what good ole Dr Victor Von Doom?  More firing action? Check this:

Lightning Attack Dr. Doom
Victor Von Doom had everything a man could want – wealth, power and dashing good looks. In an egotistical effort to humiliate longtime rival Reed Richards, Von Doom funded Reed’s exploratory space mission but insisted he go along for the ride. Unfortunately the ship was struck by a destructive cosmic wave that altered Von Doom, turning his skin into steel, granting him superhuman strength, and giving him the ability to discharge lethal electric blasts. Now, Doctor Doom has sworn revenge against Reed and the entire Fantastic Four family.
This Dr. Doom figure is based on the character from the movie and features a launching electro-current bolt!

Alright, alright.  You’ve been waiting to see what the Thing figure looks like so you can prepare your Thing-vs-Hulk scenario.  Here ya go!

thing.jpg

Super Strength Thing
A street smart football-heavyweight-turned-pilot, Ben Grimm would go any distance for his friends . . . even travel to the stars! The fateful accident while aboard an exploratory space station would turn Ben into the Thing – a superhuman, super strong creature with an indestructible orange-colored rocky exterior. Many people find his unusual appearance unsightly, but Ben struggles to maintain his sense of humor and honor – because under that tough exterior lies an ever-lovin’ heart of gold!
This Thing figure is based on the movie character and features a twist-and-release torso for a power-punch action! Press the button to hurl the included tank turret!

[Ed] But wait, kiddies -there IS more!!!!

Raging Thing
A street smart football-heavyweight-turned-pilot, Ben Grimm would go any distance for his friends . . . even travel to the stars! The fateful accident while aboard an exploratory space station would turn Ben into the Thing – a superhuman, super strong creature with an indestructible orange-colored rocky exterior. Many people find his unusual appearance unsightly, but Ben struggles to maintain his sense of humor and honor – because under that tough exterior lies an ever-lovin’ heart of gold!
Thing figure is based on the movie character and features rumblin’, raging-attack action – just pull the string!

[Ed] Well, that’s inspired me but,I have to ask,how the heck will toy makers deal with a Galactus figure compatible with these??!  Think of the blister pack size alone!

uh,in case you are wondering, there is no Galactus figure with these.
