Travelling Man…moving on?

Rumours spread like wildfire in comic circles.  Add a few gossipy washerwomen and…

Just down the road from the Forbidden Planet mega-store,closer to the city centre,Travelling Man has always been seen as playing “second fiddle” to its big competitor.  But to say I was shocked when someone told me the store had closed might be a little exaggerated.  “Slightly surprised” fits the bill better.

But not true!  No,the store may have shutters up,and when I walked past at 11.40 am today, there was a group of ten who all decided to go up to FP after one announced “I told you it’s useless -it’s cheaper in Forbidden Planet anyway”.

And,yes,FP is suddenly selling more comics.  Then again, when the competition shuts earlier, does not open Sundays and then announces it won’t be opening on Mondays from now on,you’d have to be stupid not to make money.

Thursday-Monday have always been the big days to buy comics.  You close two of those days -you lose.  But when your website hasn’t been up-dated since 2004….

And people wonder why rumours spread?  TM is in a very good geographical spot and is just not pushing enough. But,the sign says, they will be opening Tuesday-Saturday from now on.
