Speak Of The Devil #1 [1 of 6]   US  b&w comic book

Now,having previously given a link to Gilbert Hernandez’s Naked Cosmos,I wondered what I was in for when Tom,soon to leave my local Forbidden Planet store, went straight to the shelf and handed me the moustachioed ones latest.

I never ever intend to give away plots [CAPTAIN AMERICA DIED!!!] .  So,all I’ll tell you is that this is billed by Dark Horse as Action/Adventure.  There is a devil-masked,athletic peeping tom doing the rounds.  What is he/she up to?  Well, this is #1 and there are 5 other issues to go so there won’t be any answers just yet!

Gilbert produces his usual slick black and white artwork [hey, remember “The Yeah-Yeahs” -it was in colour!] and you’d have to say 10 year olds shouldn’t buy this -they’ll be out buying World War Hulk anyway!

Why,why, why is it that Gilbert has had so many comics out while Jaime only seems to contribute to Love & Rockets? Buy this one as it looks like it’ll be a treat!

Now,when I worked for Eros I’m sure a Gilbert Hernandez wrote and drew something called Birdland [THE ALIENS DUNNIT!].

FEAR AGENT #2 [of 4]  US Comic Book   Colour

When I saw issue #1 of this title I initially ignored it.  A week later there were still a couple of copies left in FP and I thought I might take a chance.

I’m glad I did!

Fear Agent:The Last Goodbye is written by Rick Remender, pencilled by Tony Moore and inked by Ande Parks.  Colours are by Nolan Woodard.Chris Samnee provides a great back cover.

What’s it about?  Well, this is #2 but marked as #13 in a series -vol.1 Re-Ignition and vol 2 My War ,are on sale now. Don’t be a chump -buy.

So,the story so far.  “Tired and broken down, trucker Heath Huston returned home after months on the road to witness his father and son murdered and his home decimated by attacking alien invaders.  After lucking into an old friend with a pick up truck,Heath and his wife Charlotte escaped certain death.  On their way to a bomb shelter they stopped in town to collect supplies only to find themselves trapped in the middle of a nightmare with no way out…”

That’s what it says on the inside front cover.

All I can say about this issue is that it is great.  It has everything and I’ve just read it through twice!  No faulting the art….this is great stuff and if vols. 1 & 2 are this good:boy!  This is good old fashioned alien iunvasion fair but better than I’ve seen in a very long time!

A must read.
